A “good job” has evolved into something that no longer resembles Work, and that has detached us from a great many things, including our food, and the people who provide it.- Mike Rowe
The more I’ve shared as an agvocate, the more I’ve realized just how detached a lot of folks are from the people who provide their food. And I’ve realized how important it is to tell our individual stories of what we do and why we do it.
Farmers are some of the smartest, most talented people I know. We have to know a great deal about a lot of different things… jacks of all trades. We must be constantly learning and improving to better our operations, build our productivity, and steward our lands. Everyone does it a little differently, there is no silver bullet, and that’s what makes it so important to share our stories.
It can be difficult to share sometimes when you’re hit with extreme negativity, but it’s important to remember why you’re doing it. And it’s important to remember your audience. The people who have their minds made up and a “my way or the highway” mentality are not my audience. That makes taking the negativity a little bit easier.
Keep your courage, keep your strength, and keep spreading your truths.
