I love you. This is a warning letter that you’re coming home to the hot mess that is me.
Since you’ve been gone this week our son hasn’t napped on his own. Not once. We’ve eaten frozen chicken pot pies and take out. I’ve got about 5 loads of laundry to do. There’s a pile of dirty diapers in the garage. Toys are strewn everywhere. There is so much dog hair, I could probably fill a second king size comforter with it… but, you’ll be glad to know I didn’t follow through on my threat to burn the house down rather than clean it all up.
Our kid saw me break down. He saw my temper fall short. I feel like I’ve failed this week, but I know you don’t see it that way.
In today’s society, it isn’t admirable for a woman to rely on a man. It seems many think men like you, who lead the household, aren’t needed. Women can do it all by themselves.
I’m not a feminist and I never will be. I need you. I value everything you do for us, and I’m not ashamed to admit that I can’t do it alone. Thank you for working hard to provide for our family. I am proud to be your wife. And I love you very much.
