Marilyn’s Cutout Cookies

This recipe comes from my Grandma's kitchen and they are my personal favorite cookie of all time. Perfect for any holiday or birthday!

Ingredients
  

Cookies
  • 1 cup butter 2 sticks
  • 1 cup Crisco Shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp almond extract
  • 2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 5 cups flour maybe a little less, don’t let dough get too dry because you’ll add a little more flour when rolling out
Frosting
  • 2 tbsp butter melted
  • 2 oz cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • powdered sugar add to right consistency

Method
 

Cookies
  1. Mix the first 6 ingredients until smooth, then add dry ingredients
  2. Refrigerate dough for about an hour
  3. Roll out dough to about 1/4″ thick (use extra flour to keep from sticking)
  4. Use whatever shape of cutout that you would like
  5. Bake at 340 F for about 11 min, watch closely
